Happy Holidays to you all! We’re just about ten days away to the big day! Suddenly Christmas is upon us, after what seems like a very long pre-season!
Blue Grass Christmas Store
It’s hard to believe that just a month a go we had our annual Christmas Unveiling event and it felt like we were kicking things off early, but as it does every year, suddenly we’re running out of days to help you get everything done in time! The Christmas Store at Blue Grass has been in full hustle and bustle with many of you enjoying our magical Christmas displays, picking out a new or annual Christmas tree and of course shopping through all the incredible trimmings that are available in store! Hope you found some great gift ideas as well, and if you are just getting started, there’s still plenty to choose from! Great deals are also coming your way, but you don’t want to miss out, stop by soon!
Reflecting on the Season
Every year as we approach the early shadows of the next one, we reflect on the season that was. Calgary and area weather certainly kept things interesting in the gardening circles this year. April provided us with some beautiful spring temperatures that had us harvesting and selling sod very early this year. The demand for early annuals, hanging baskets and vegetable plants had the greenhouse full to the brim well before our traditional planting time of May long weekend. Following the early spring emergence of gardens and gardeners, was a slightly cooler summer than we’ve seen for a few. Tomatoes had a tough time ripening and annuals just didn’t show as much as they have in extra summer heat. But gardeners of Calgary keep up to the challenge and there were still plenty of great things happening in front borders, porch pots, landscape designs, etc. Keep up the good work YYC!
Early fall snow in October melted away to a beautiful shoulder season to winter, as balmy temperatures kept us happy, although somewhat confusing for our trees and perennials during spring like temperatures. And then alas, the freezing cold of the last few weeks has been the worst in a couple of years, but it has provided the inspiration and acclimation to get us into the Christmas season that we are currently braving. Here’s hoping that we get a beautiful snow-white Christmas but with warmer temps on the ole’ thermometer!
Thank you to all of you for your support of a local family business, your follows and appreciation on social media and the regular customers that we know by name! We look forward to 2017’s gardening season, which we’re already planning for!
Good tidings, good wishes and most of all Merry Christmas to you and yours! Wishing you the very best during this holiday season and into the New Year!
